Image of Peck, Stow, and Wilcox Apple Parer

Peck, Stow & Wilcox

Peck, Stow & Wilcox manufactured a turntable. Like the Reading 76 this parer has a heavy table mount, which can be removed. The hand-driven gear meshes with three different gears. The outer teeth drive the fork gear. Inner teeth drive two gears. The first gear connects to the table gear via an axle. The second gear, decorated with teardrop-shaped holes has a lip that activates the push-off. The turntable gear carrying the paring arm rotates around a stationary platform that acts to push the blade away from the apple. This stationary platform also has a blossom cutter, which is engaged by an incline on the turntable gear. The parer is marked PATD. OCT. 5, 1880.
