Image of Split-Frame Mechanism

In the above picture a metal pin helps guide the split-frame mechanism along the track. In the picture below (another example of this parer) a wedge-shaped piece of metal serves the same function. The wedge-shape below is clearly a part of the split-frame casting. The pin-shaped metal above could be a repair, but I cannot dectect any damage that would represent where the original wedge-shape metal broke, furthermore, I have seen two parers with the pin structure.
