Standard
or The Ultimate Union
Landers,
Frary and Clark manufactured the "Standard". This
parer adds a "chipper arm" to the Union's design.
Once the apple is pared the chipping arm (which is designed
as a third-class lever) slices the apple into chips, which
can be dried or used for pie. The Hand-Driven gear has a
small bevel gear that meshes with the central gear instead
of the large modified helical teeth used in the previous
Union designs. This parer is also known as the "Ultimate
Union" among collectors.
