Little Star
Hudson
manufactured several lathe parers. This is an early version of their
Little Star in which the blades are mounted horizontally. This parer
is marked LITTLE STAR. The later model was designed with a curved base and marked LITTLE STAR and Patented June 9, 1885.

The LITTLE STAR was also manufactured by the Swedish manufacture Husqvarna. The first Husqvarna foundary was established in 1689 to manufacture muskets. Over the past 326 years Husqvarna has produced a wide range of products including: sewing machines, bicycles, motorcycles, and kitchen equipment. According to Rickard Bindberg, Museum Director for the Husqvarna Museum, this apple parer or äppelskalningsmaskin was model No 1 first offered in the 1922 Husqvarna catalogue. A second, painted model No 2 was offered in the 1960's. |
